Interview Questions:

Q: How did you become involved with glass blowing?

A: I started glass blowing by exploring neon and 2D art. I became familiar with using the furnace when I was in grad school, and then I started my art career here at Circle 6.

Q: What are the most important things about this art that you want someone who is new to it to know?

A: I want someone to know the level of flexibility the the glass has. This is a very frustrating art, but there is nothing else that I would want to do. There’s different types of glass, there’s thick and thin, there’s transparent and color, and so on. It’s not like riding a bike.

Q: What are the most important aspects of this art to you personally?

A:Well my two all time favorite aspirations and inspirations are Rik Allen and David Chihuly. Also, thinking way back would be the Egyptians and the Italians, those were the big contributors. Without them, glass art wouldn’t have grown and I wouldn’t have the job that I do now.
